How do I get started?

The first step is a personal assessment which takes approximately 1 ½ hours. The assessment includes a reading of the energy of your brainwaves in six areas of your brain. Your brain balancing protocols are determined by the results of the assessment and your regular brain balancing sessions can begin. You may have your first brain balancing session immediately following the assessment or at another scheduled time.


How long is each session?

Approximately 1½ hours, of which approximately 65 minutes is devoted to brain balancing. The remainder of the time is for moving of the sensors, computer set up and time for you to consult with me. Often two sessions will be done back to back which cuts down on set up time and can be accomplished in about 2½ to 3 hours.


How many sessions will I need?

Every brain, like every person is unique. Experience has taught us that a minimum of 10 sessions is needed to gain a lasting benefit with Brain Training. Because we want you to have the best possible experience, we will work with your schedule and evening and weekend appointments are possible. Some clients will require up to 30 sessions while most clients have their goals met in less then 20.


How soon before results are evident?

Many clients report changes following their first session. Each brain responds differently, therefore the outcome is unique to you. The brain can even continue to change up to 2 weeks after training is complete.


What results should I expect?

Each one of us is a completely unique individual, so results will vary from person to person. The results you find also depend on why you seek brain balancing. For example, clients with addictions or other issues that are significantly impacting the quality of their lives will usually feel results very quickly, and people around them will quickly notice changes as well. Clients with less significant imbalances usually show more subtle results which are often noticed first by family members, friends, colleagues, etc. Benefits felt by most clients, regardless of the issues that brought them in, are a sense of calmness, relaxation, reduced stress and anxiety, more connected, better sleep – and the list goes on.


Is it permanent or will I have to keep coming back for training?

Training is permanent. Unlike training muscles, which atrophy after lack of use, the brain naturally seeks homeostasis (a balanced, stable condition), so after you have trained it is more difficult to get out of balance, and easier to return to balance. A bit like riding a bicycle, once you have learned how to balance it is easy to remember and difficult to force yourself out of balance without a natural desire and tendency to remain in balance.


What age must a person be to use this technology?

We have had success with children as young at 8 years old. However, this is determined on a client by client basis and dependent upon the child, the parents and the issues. If you are considering Brain States for your child, I encourage you to take advantage of a free consultation with me.


Is this process safe?

Yes. The process is non-invasive – meaning, NO drugs, NO electricity into your brain or body, NO surgical procedures. It’s simply a form of bio-feedback that allows your brain to balance and harmonize itself which enhances the brain’s performance and consequently improves lives.


Do I have to do anything during the sessions?

No – just relax. You will sit in an amazingly comfortable zero-gravity reclining chair in a peaceful environment.


Does Brain States interfere with medications?

No it does not.


Are there any medications that prevent or lessen the benefits of brain balancing?

Possibly. It is possible that some beta-blockers (usually prescribed for heart conditions) can lessen the benefits. There is no way to determine how an individual brain will respond on these medications.


Are there any lifestyle changes I need to make to do Brain States?

It is best not to drink alcoholic beverages within 48 hours of your Brain States session, as alcohol may interfere with the brain balancing process.


How Is This Different From Biofeedback?

The basic differentiation of these modalities is based on the following:

1. Biofeedback – is a type of learning used to lessen negative reactions for the individual, based on increasing the awareness of the biological process in order to off-set or stop the pathology as it begins to happen biologically and is applicable during the occurrence of the pathology. For example; panic attacks have biological indicators before the attacks hit, if you can learn the biological indicators you can lessen the panic attack by either degree and/or duration. Biofeedback is oriented to solve diagnosed problems in the client.

2. Neurofeedback – is a type of learning used to lessen negative reactions for the individual, based on increasing the awareness of the neurological process in order to off-set or stop the pathology as it begins to happen neurologically. For example; training sensory-motor neurological frequencies to be more dominant for some athletic events. Neurofeedback is oriented to solve problems defined by a normative data base or model along with those problems and symptoms diagnosed by practitioner and client. Neurofeedback will usually be provided to clients in a medical model and will require 30 to multiple hundreds of sessions to achieve desired results.

3. Brainwave Optimization™ – is a type of brain optimization based on brain observance. It is based on a Quantum Physics understanding vs. a Newtonian Physics understanding of the individual, and this philosophical difference cannot be too heavily stressed. Brainwave Optimization™ seeks to show the brain itself – be a mirror for the brain in its ever more optimized state. The client is not trained with learned behavior. In fact a client may sleep through a session and still realize results because the brain can view itself without direct client participation. While not optimal, it is always more efficacious to have the client participate, it is not mandatory.

For example, clients adversarial to the training, such as those with adolescent misbehavior or antisocial behavior issues, can still be assisted to balance and harmonize their brain and achieve a greater homeostasis.

Brainwave Optimization™ is oriented to solve problems having to do with the balance and harmony of the brain energy and is not based on comparison of the client with a normative data base. It is not based on a diagnosis or the symptoms which are presented. Brainwave Optimization™ is based on the degree of balance and harmony the brain contains and seeks to increase this balance and harmony.
